At the Potter’s House: Becoming Vessels of Grace

This past month, our community walked through two powerful devotions: The Stones We Carry and Fireflies of Faith. Together, we looked honestly at the burdens we’ve held onto—some for far too long—and we honored the weight of those stones. Yet even in those heavy places, God gave us flickers of hope. Small, luminous reminders that faith doesn’t always roar… sometimes it glows softly like fireflies in the dark.
As we enter December, our journey continues with a new and deeply meaningful theme:
The Potter’s House: When God Shapes the Clay of Our Lives
Throughout Scripture, God is described as the Potter—steady, skilled, patient—who forms us with intention and care. Clay only becomes beautiful in the hands of someone who knows how to shape it. And the Potter knows.
He knows the parts of us that need softening. He knows the rough edges we wish we didn’t have.He knows where we’re fragile and where we’re strong. And gently—never forcefully—He works. Shapes. Mends. Restores.
This December, we’re not just reading about the Potter’s hands. We’re going to feel them.
A Hands-On Devotional Experience: Creating Prayer Cups
Over two sessions, we’ll step into a tactile, symbolic practice:
Session 1:
We’ll form pinch pots from air-dry clay. These simple vessels reflect our own humanity—imperfect, hand-shaped, full of potential.
Session 2:
We’ll paint, decorate, and bless our pots, turning them into personal prayer cups that will sit in our prayer spaces at home.
These cups aren’t just décor. They are reminders:
That we are vessels designed by God
That we are works in progress, continuously reshaped by His love
That living water fills and renews us
That prayers don’t disappear—God moves through them
Each participant will be invited to write down prayers, thoughts, or reflections and fold them into their cup. Over time, returning to these slips of paper becomes its own testimony—proof of God’s presence and answered prayers.
